This is the Red Waterfall Horseshoe Canyon in South Africa. The hike went through a canyon whose walls climbed up and up over your head until you were deep in a horseshoe cul-de-sac, and from high above a stream fell from the very top and filled the whole end with mist. I had so much fun painting all the layers, and despite what my husband says, I remember the rock under the water being a rich, rusty burnt sienna with the water running over it.
