This is based on a solar flare that came through in the spring of 2026 and lit up the northern lights as far south as Colorado. My sister sent me some pictures, and I thought it would be fun to paint a night scene by the backlight of the aurora. It's also one of my son's favorite things, an Alaska train riding under the northern lights in one of our books. There's some classic Bob Ross feel in that one.
