This is based on a solar flare that came through in the spring of 2026 and lit up the northern lights as far south as Colorado. My sister sent me some pictures, and I thought it would be fun to paint a night scene with the backlight of the aurora. It's also one of my son's favorite things: an Alaska train riding under the northern lights in one of our books. There's some classic Bob Ross feel in that one.
